How a mounted TV comes down safely

Two-person lift

Anything over 55 inches comes off with two people — the panel is lifted straight up off the bracket hooks and set on a padded blanket, screen in.

Bracket removal and inspection

The wall plate is unbolted and the installer checks whether the lag bolts hit studs. If the previous installer used drywall anchors for a heavy TV, the homeowner gets shown, and the recommendation is to do the new wall into framing.

Patch and paint

Lag holes get filled with setting compound, sanded flush and primed; with the wall color on hand the patch is painted, otherwise it is left primed and ready.

Re-mounting at the new location
