Santa Clarita TV Mounting: TV Mounting on Brick, Stone and Concrete in Santa Clarita
Santa Clarita TV Mounting covers TV mounting on brick, stone veneer, cinder block and poured concrete walls across Santa Clarita — hammer-drilled sleeve and wedge anchors, dust extraction and a bracket plate shimmed level against the uneven face.
Why masonry mounting is a different job
There are no studs to find — the wall is the structure — but the anchoring has to be done right. Brick body (not mortar) and poured concrete take sleeve or wedge anchors rated for hundreds of pounds; mortar joints and hollow block need toggle-style masonry anchors or epoxy. Stone veneer is a thin decorative layer over framing or block, so the fastener must reach the structure behind it. Using the self-tapping masonry screws that come in the box with a TV mount is how brick-mounted TVs end up on the floor.
Anchor types by wall material
Solid brick and poured concrete
3/8-inch wedge anchors or sleeve anchors, 2.5–3 inches deep, placed in the brick body. Hammer drill with a carbide bit; holes blown out and vacuumed before the anchor goes in.
Hollow block (CMU)
Toggle-style masonry anchors that open inside the cell, or sleeve anchors placed in the solid webs. The installer taps to locate webs before drilling.
Stone veneer and cultured stone
Long structural screws or lag bolts through the veneer into the stud or block behind; the plate is shimmed with stainless washers so it sits level on the irregular face.
Tile over backer board
Diamond bits at low speed through the tile, then anchors into the backer and studs; holes placed where the plate hides any chip-out.
Dust control and finish
Hammer drilling masonry makes fine red or gray dust that stains carpet and hearths. A careful installer drills with a vacuum shroud, drop-cloths the hearth and floor, and wipes the wall before the bracket goes on. Visible raceway on masonry is painted to match the brick or mortar color.
Where masonry TV walls turn up in the SCV
Brick fireplaces in 1970s–80s Saugus and Canyon Country ranch homes, river-rock surrounds in Sand Canyon and Agua Dulce, poured-concrete garage gyms in Valencia, block walls in Castaic workshops and barns, and stone-veneer accent walls in newer Stevenson Ranch and Five Knolls builds.
TV Mounting on Brick, Stone & Concrete — common questions
Can wires be hidden on a brick wall?
There is no cavity, so a slim paintable raceway runs along the surround edge or the mortar line. If the brick is a veneer over a framed wall, the installer can sometimes go through to the cavity behind it.
